This page is about introducing myself to you from various aspects of my persona and roles.

By now you have seen the picture I took of a Leucistic Magpie that lives in our neighbourhood in Edmonton. That seemed a good picture to start with, as I am a pastor but what I do as an STM is not exactly the same as what a regular pastor does, just like a Leucisitic Magpie is not the usual black and white version. I will explain that difference more on an other page and will link to it from here. The way this blog works, you should be able to click on the headings below and be taken to some introductory videos I made.

ABOUT

Pastor Pete VanderBeek has a Bachelor of Arts degree in the social sciences from King’s and a Master of Divinity from Calvin Seminary. He has taken specialized training and done lots of reading and reflecting – along with having experience – in what we call Specialized Transitional Ministry.
He is passionate about church health, especially from a relational perspective… He has little passion for administration but appreciates those who can make up for his deficits there!.

He was born in Brooks Alberta and lived many places in his younger years, including spending three years in the Netherlands. So assume he can understand your Dutch… be careful what you say! His home base is in Edmonton, where his wife Amy Borkent has a family medical practice. He enjoys photography and musing about trends in culture and how they relate to church.
